Gulf Air, the
national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, which re-launched flights to Nairobi’s
Jommo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in July 2011, celebrated a
successful year of operations yesterday with key government and civil aviation official’s
inn a dinner at the New Stanley Hotel Nairobi.
“We are very pleased with the performance of
our Nairobi route over the past year that has seen strong demand across all
classes. In one year, we have flown 60 times delivering quality service to
thousands of passengers between Nairobi and Bahrain. More importantly, we have
opened up new doors of commercial and tourism opportunities between Kenya and
Bahrain and the wider GGC countries.” Notes Mr. Marcus Bernhardt Gulf Air chief
services officer.
“As we step into the second year of our operations,
we reiterate our commitment to serve the Kenyan market and indeed the African
market as a whole which continues to be an integral part of Gulf Airs long strategy.
I take this chance to thank the Kenya civil Aviation Authorities and JKIA
management for their support and cooperation.”Adds Mr. Bernhardt.
The
flight between Nairobi and Bahrain not only links East Africa with the GCC states
but also significantly reduces travel time from Nairobi to Southeast Asia and
the Indian Subcontinent.
As
well as offering customers a direct flight to Bahrain, the Gulf Air provides
those travelling from Kenya the opportunity to fly onwards from Bahrain to 27 other
destinations.
Gulf
Airs Nairobi flight is operated by state- of -the -art AirbusA320 aircrafts
with each seat featuring their renowned in-flight portable entertainment
systems hand held entertainment solutions offering touch screen technology
and a selection of over 1500 movies,
music , videos ,games and television programming.
The airline now operates 5 flights weekly between Nairobi and Bahrain.
