GSK Launch new toothpaste Brand

By Eric Akasa
Through a gum disease awareness campaign, research based pharmaceutical and healthcare company GlaxoSmithKline has launched Parodontax Daily fluoride in Kenya. The product is a tried and tested toothpaste with a long and well established history of 75 years of protecting gum health by helping to stop bleeding gums.
The fluoride toothpaste contains sodium bicarbonate and 6 natural extracts: Rhatany, peppermint, chamomile, myrrh, sage and Echinacea. It also contains fluoride to prevent caries and is recommended to be used twice daily everyday to keep gums and teach healthy.
Studies show that 1in 3 people suffer from gum problems and the incidence is on the increase. Bleeding gums is the most common symptom of gum disease but it is often ignored by sufferers who instead find a way of coping with it.
“If you hare bleeding gums, you will notice traces of blood in your toothpaste when brushing your teeth. We seek to make consumers with bleeding gums aware that they have an issue. Bleeding gums is usually the first sign of gum disease which if not treated could eventually lead to tooth loss.” Notes Zippy Kalia GSK consumer healthcare group product manager for oral health.
She also urged healthcare provides to ensure that patients do not ignore the “red alert” of bleeding and inflammation of their gums and to inform them about the long term implications of gingivitis which could lead to irresponsible gum disease and tooth loss.
GSK is targeting growth in the Oral Care Market share with the launch of Oral care products for various target masses. The company recently also launched launch Aquafresh ultimate which is superior toothpaste that delivers whole tooth protection, both above and below the gum line
